  • No one could have possibly imagined such a sudden and profound turning point as the one we all watched in every city around the world, where the inhabitants forced themselves to a lockdown in order to prevent the spread of a pandemic.

In the Summer of 2019 - color photographs - Lisbon was the spot, a fashionable city. New airbnb, hostels, luxury hotels sprang everywhere around the city. Day after day several cruise ships arrived and left at the brand new boat terminal; low-cost flights kept dropping visitors at a breakneck pace. At the time the city was a melting pot of people and excitement.

But suddenly, the unpredictable happens - SARS CoV-2 emerges in China and very soon it takes charge of the whole world.

In Portugal the state of emergency is declared and the population is prevented from going out freely.

Less than a year after, in April 2020 - B&W photographs - tourists had left and Lisbon became desert for many weeks to come. The city had lost all of its color and it became a lifeless place, a city in shades of grey.

Now, only the places were there.
